What's The Difference?
I have often been asked, what is the difference
between a Jacuzzi, a spa and a hot tub. Well, that's what I say!
While the terms are often used interchangeably, Hot Tub, or as some
folks say, Hottub, can mean any heated body of water used for bathing, where
the emphasis is toward heat, and they may not have many (or any)
powerful jets for massage. The term hot tub is commonly used to mean
Spa. Generally, the term Spa refers to hot tubs which have numerous,
powerful jets, and the emphasis is toward massage. Modern spas usually
have groups of jets, often targeted to specific muscle groups.
The term Jacuzzi actually refers to the brand name Jacuzzi, because they
were the pioneers in the spa and hot tub industry. Many people also
use the term Jacuzzi when referring to a whirlpool bath, as it is
still a very popular brand. When someone calls for service or repair
on a Jacuzzi, we always ask a few more identification questions, but
other than that, What's the difference?

Pools, Spas, and Hot Tubs are more
than just luxuries, they are fun, healthy, and, for some, therapeutic.
More than that, they are an investment - both in money, and in quality of
life! Just like an automobile, your Pool, Spa, or Hot Tub should be
well maintained, clean, and properly serviced so that they can fill their
purpose reliably.
A modern spa is a sophisticated, precise appliance,
and should be serviced by a qualified pool and spa professional. The
spa controls, circuit boards, and equipment can be damaged by inexperienced
people who may try to repair it themselves, so, if you are having a problem
with your spa, call or email us to set up an appointment. Please don't
tamper with the unit before consulting us, We have seasoned, Friendly
spa and hot tub repair professionals. If there is a simple fix for the
problem, we will tell you. If not, it is much easier to troubleshoot
(diagnose) a more complicated control and equipment problem, if we can see
it unaltered. Having the knowledge of an honest, trained professional
pool or spa service and repair technician may actually save you money!

Spa and hot tub heaters normally heat to a maximum of
104. In order for the heater to come on, the pump must be running, the
filter must be clean, and the control must be working and set to call for
heat. Most self-contained spas have a control panel, called a topside
control, or spaside control, which turns on the pumps, blower, jets, and
heater. Once the temperature is set, the pump should automatically
come on for a specific amount of time, or until a specific temperature
is reached. Control systems vary, depending on the spa pack
manufacturer. We have a page - where you can download owner's manuals
